The development of women is considered an integral part of the overall development of a nation because women constitute nearly half of the population and play a crucial role in economic, social, and human development. A nation cannot achieve balanced and sustainable development if women remain disadvantaged. The main reasons are explained below:

1. Women as Equal Partners in Economic Development-

Women participate actively in agriculture, industry, services, and the informal sector. Their contribution to national income, food production, and household economies is substantial. When women are educated, skilled, and provided with equal employment opportunities, labour productivity increases and economic growth accelerates.

2. Human Capital Formation-

Women play a vital role in shaping the future generation. Educated and healthy women invest more in the education, nutrition, and health of their children. This improves the quality of human capital, reduces infant mortality, and enhances long-term economic development.

3. Poverty Reduction-

Empowering women through education, employment, and access to resources helps reduce poverty. Women’s income is more likely to be spent on family welfare, health, and education, leading to improved living standards and inclusive growth.

4. Social Development and Gender Equality-

Women’s development promotes gender equality, social justice, and human rights. When women have access to education, healthcare, and decision-making, social evils such as early marriage, domestic violence, and discrimination decline, creating a more progressive society.

5. Improved Health and Demographic Outcomes-
