Administrative law is the branch of Public law that govern the organisation, powers, procedures and functioning of administrative authorities and provides mechanism, to control administrative discretion to prevent arbitrariness and protect individual's rights. 

Ivor Jennings: Administrative law is the law relating to the administration. It determines the organisation, powers and duties of administrative authorities.

Dicey: Administrative law includes rules which regulate the powers and procedures of administrative authorities.

Sir William Wade: Administrative law is concerned with the operation and control of administrative power.

C.K. Allen: Administrative law is the law relating to the control of governmental power.

Indian Position-

In India, administrative law is constitutionally rooted and is mainly derived from- Art. 14, Art. 21, Art. 19, Art 32 & Art. 226
